ઘણી
અપેક્ષા અને શાંતિ રાખ્યા
બાદ આજે મને તારો
બીજો પત્ર મળ્યો. તા
૧૬-૧-૫૫ નો
પત્ર અઠવાડિયા બાદ મળ્યો. માનીશ
નહી આ અઠવાડિયે ફક્ત
બે જ પત્રો મને
મળ્યા છે. સુતારી અને
રા ગીરીશ નો ગીરીશને હજુ
પ્રત્યુત્તર આપ્યો નથી. આજ કાલમાં
લખી નાખીશ. માથા ઉપરથી જે
બોજો હલકો થયો હોતતો
આપત. Pending રાખવાનું મન થાય છે
પણ ધરાઈને પ્રત્યુત્તર આપવામાં કેટલીજ ઢીલ થાય છે
તેથી જ તને આ
પત્ર લખવા બેઠો છું.
અને પાછું તે લખેલ આશા
નિરાશા માં ન ફેરવાય
તે પણ મારે જોવાનું
છે. And so my letter
did serve you. "A friend in need is a friend indeed." Thank goodness
my letter reached in time and you were saved from the fuss.
તારા
પત્ર નો satisfactory જવાબ ન આપી
શક્યો તે બદલ દિલગીર
છું. અને બની શકે
તેવી કોશીશ કરી હતી પણ
મારા ધાર્યા પ્રમાણે નકામા થયા છું. જે
આજે તને Air letter લખવાનો વિચાર કરતો હતો પણ
તારા નામનું અગાઉથી Cover Address ઠેકાણે તેમજ ઈશ્વર લખેલું
અને ટીકીટો પણ મારા ફેર
નથી ફક્ત ૧૦ પાઉન્ડ
નો જ ફેર છે.
નરેશનો જલ્દી તારીખ પત્ર પુરો થયા
એમાં તારું કઈપણ વિચારવા થશે.
ધારું છું કે Exam તૈયારીમાં
હશે. મારે Exam ની ચિંતા કરવાની
જ નથી. અહીં Exam જેવું
કંઈ છે જ નહી.
I mean after "matric" (Deutschland) students enter the university and
has to do only 2 examinations before his or her Doctorate. And that too it is
not compulsory or force or in a specified time of 2 yrs (in 4 yrs) he must do
his fore-diploma or diploma. He or she can do the examination after completing
the lab. work. Most of the time the students are in lab. It all depend upon the
ability of the student. No compulsory attendance in the lab or the lectures.
After the diploma examination we have to work for the diploma. Arbeit which is
just nothing but thesis. After submitting the thesis one gets the diploma and
then can he or she continue, if at all he or she wants to-Doctorate.
Usually the students after the
fore-diploma are serious but not as serious as they ought to be. But when the
examination is to be made, boy there is nothing on the earth which will stop
them. So this is in short everything about the student's life in study. It is
better for me to write about their private life at later stage, for I know not
much of it. Freedom given to students is much even girls enjoy and they have a
right too. Hamendra, one thing which strikes me about the student's life here
and to my of personal opinion, this life is good. When you have a good freedom
with the girls you will definitely not think of them.
તરસ્યાને
મધ નો પ્યાલો આપવાને
બદલે "સરોવર" જ ધર્યું હોય
તો તરસ્યો પોતાની મેળે જ તૃપ્ત
થાય? સરખામણી તરસ મટી જાય.
For girls વધે છે. I have a lot of friends
and you know why I keep them? Only to learn the language. Frauen = women have a
tendency to speak more. And their company is also enjoyable.—Please read the
other part in the other sheet.
And after the World-war Germany
is "over flooded" with females. I had a introduction the day I
entered Heidelberg and then due to my absence I missed a lot. But being a
"pakka Bania" I have made up the loss by having more introduction and
at present enjoying their company. It was a good advise I received from you
about the hostal. You are care free and are, yourself, out well to do what you
please. Suitable for a good man. "You have a good opportunity and must
make use of it." Last Sunday I had introduction with a Sweet Seventeen.
And you will not believe it they look 19-20 but are only 16 & 17 yrs. old.
That's the mystery of life here. Let us both us at the age of 19-20 they look
like 25 Yrs. of age. No body is force and always shy but these are the
characteristis of an Indian girl. I don't think any Indian girl can love a
foreigner as they will always before hand And also of at all allow, she will
try to avoid as far as possible. I am talking very freely, and
"amerana" staying very comfortably for about 2 1/2 hr. I heard the
radio you know, Carnival is coming on 22nd feb. I hope I can enjoy it in real
sense. For the time being I shut my pen and sleep well. Now good slept good
last week. (23rd) Got up at 9-30 and "packed" all my dirty underwears
for the "Washing". Here they don't charge as per piece as but on the
weight and if "ironed" then it costs more. Only washed & dried is
cheap. Some shirt costs 0.90 DM and a trouser 2.80 DM But the washing and the
Ironing is very good. Though my shirts are dirty the starch collars have the
same stiffness as newly washed. You should have seen my newly washed pants.
Boy! That's called washing.—On Wednesday we all the Indians are meeting once
again to celebrate the Republic day. The "most unfortunate thing is we
haven't got a radio or any records. The no. of Indian (students) is increasing.
Now we are 14 with more to come—I am doing most probably my examination in
December before that I'll work for my
"diploma arbeit" which
is a course of 9 months (Usually). Usually this work is done after the
examination. After this week I'll be doing the literature preparation.
21st Feb. '55
It is nearly after a month I am
writing you to complete the incomplete letter. For last 15 days I thought and
thought over what I should write and until now haven't got any idea. About
studies I have already started with the literature preparation. One is complete
and will day after tomorrow start the IInd. This term I don't think I'll be
able to finish organic preparations and am going to Leverkusen (near Cologne)
on 5th March for practical training for 2 months. Hamendra, I would like to
answer to your question "if students can work during vacation". Well
you can. e.g. my friends will work in the factory which pays 1.60 DM per hour.
and the boarding and lodging are cheap. I don't know about the engineer
students but I am sure one can work. There is a special branch dept. in the
university where you can ask, if there is any work for me, and done be with
their help if you are lucky you will get anywhere. In a way the money problem
can easily be solved. But you should not depend.—It is difficult to study in English
in Germany. Exams are to be done in German. and there is no written
examination.
My Diploma I intend to do next
winter and then Doctorate.—If you have anything in mind you can without
hesitation ask me. Now to write in Gujarati.
છેલ્લા
ત્રણ દિવસથી સ્નો પડે છે
અને છેલ્લા અઠવાડિયે Exam. Snow પડવા માંડ્યા બાદ
પણ એ મારી નાકની
તકલીફ થોડી વધી. ખબર
નથી પડતી કે શા
કેમ તકલીફ શરુ થઈ! શ્વાસ
લેવામાં તકલીફ થાય છે પણ
નાકના ટીપા છે એ
સારું છે. મહેરબાની કરી
ઘરે લખતા નહીં. અહીં
આવ્યા પછી ઘણી છોકરીઓ
સાથે ઓળખાણ કરી. અને ઘણી
જલસા ને થોડા વખત
પછી રજા આપવાની છે.
તે ભાષા પર થોડો
કાબુ આવ્યો છે. ઘણા શબ્દો
જાણવાની જરૂર છે ખાસ
નવીન તો નથી. પરીક્ષામાં
તને સફળતા મળે એમ ઈચ્છું
છું. નવીન સમાચાર હોય
તો જરૂર જણાવજે. ઘરમાં
બધાને મારા પ્રણામ. વિરેન્દ્ર
ને યાદ.
