પ્રિય હેમેન્દ્ર,

તારો અણધાર્યો પત્ર મળ્યો વાંચી ખૂબ જ આનંદ થયો અને મને જે શંકા હતી કે તું આપણું સર્જેલ સબબ વિસરી ગયો લાગે છે તે ખોટી પડી. મને તો તે વિચારોએ હમણાં હમણાં તંગ કરી મુક્યો છે. કારણ ૧૦-૧૫ દિવસ પહેલાં જ મેં બે Ceylon ના આપણી જ ઉંમરના છોકરાઓને સાયકલ પર જતા જોયાં અને તેમની સાયકલ પર પાછળ નાનકડી પેટી પર લખ્યું હતું 'Ceylon To London' અને આગળ Bar ઉપર આપણો તથા તેઓનો નાનો ઝંડો હતો. આ દ્રશ્ય જોઇને મનમાં જ વિચારો સ્ફુર્યા કે માનવીની ખરી ધગશ હોય તો તે શું નથી કરી શકતો.

ઇંગ્લીશમાં કહે છે ને કે "Where there is a will there a way". હજુ પરમ દિવસે જ બીજા એક European ને ચર્ચગેટ સ્ટેશન પાસે જોયો કે જેની આસપાસ ઘણા જ માણસો ટોળે વળ્યાં હતાં મેં પણ નજર કરી જોઇ તો તે World Tour પર નીકળ્યો હોય તેવું લાગ્યું. તેની Motor Cycle પર સામાન અને જરૂરી ચીજો સુંદર રીતે ગોઠવી હતી. એકલો જ નીકળી પડ્યો છે ને ? ફક્ત સાથીદાર માં તેની એક Motor Cycle જ. આવા તો કેટલાય આપણા જેવા વિચારો અને ઇચ્છાવાળા માણસો આ દુનિયા પર રખડતા

 

હશે. અને કુદરત સાથ આપશે તો આપણે પણ થોડા જ તેમની જેમ નીકળી પડીશું. એકવાત તો ચોક્કસ લાગે છે કે અમેરિકા જો ધંધા કે નોકરીના ચગડોળમાં ફસાયા તો પછી તેમાંથી નીકળવું ખૂબ જ ભારે છે. માટે હવે ટાઇમ ખૂબ જ ભરાઇ ગયો છે વિચાર કરીને તરત તેનો અમલ જ કરવો જોઇએ.

હું તો અહીં જ રહેવાનો છું. કંઇ પણ જવા વિચાર નથી. તારા માટે તો મને પોતાને લાગે છે કે જમશેદપુર જ સારા chances છે. મુંબઇમાં આવો સારો chance મળે નહિ.

આજકાલ બીજો એક પણ વિચાર મારા મગજમાં ભમ્યા કરે છે ક્યારે હવે હું કાંઇ પૈસા મેળવતો થાઉં. કોઇની સહાય દ્વારા કાંઇ પણ નાનું મોટું કામ કરવાની ઇચ્છા થઇ આવે છે. પણ હાલ મિત્રોમાં એક રસિક કોઠારી અને બીજો મહેન્દ્ર શાહ જ છે તેમાં મહેન્દ્ર તો ઓફીસે જાય છે અને તે વકીલાત જ કરવાનો એટલે તેને વેપાર - ધંધા કે બીજી એવી કોઇ વાતમાં રસ જ ન હોય જ્યારે રસિકને તો મેં ઘણા વખતથી કહી રાખ્યું છે કે આપણા માટે કોઇ લાઇન શોધ પણ તે હજુ સુધી તેમાંથી સફળ થયો નથી. મારી પોતાની પાસે તો એક વિચાર છે પણ તે વિચાર સાંભળીને કોઇ પણ જરૂર હસશે જ. પણ હું માનું છું કે જો નસીબજોર કરતા હશે તો મારા વિચાર દ્વારા સારા પૈસા મળે તેમ છે. તેને માટે જરા

 

મહેનતુ માણસની જરૂર પડે પણ તે તો મળી રહેશે.

બનતા સુધી આ મહિનાની ૧૫-૧૬ તારીખે મારે સુરેન્દ્રનગર તરફ આવવાનું થશે. જો કે મારાથી બનશે ત્યાં સુધી તો હું ત્યાં આવવાનું Avoid જ કરીશ પરંતુ નહિ ચાલે તો પછી આવવું જ પડશે. મારા પૂ. નાનાકાકાના સાળાના લગ્ન છે તે માટે કદાચ ધ્રાંગધ્રા જવું પડે. તેઓ આડું ખાઇને પાછળ લાગ્યા છે કે આવવું જ પડશે ખેર જોઇએ છીએ આગળ પર શું થાય છે.

હમણાં જ તારા પત્રની શરૂઆત પહેલાં જ પૂ. કાકાને પત્ર લખ્યો છે. તે તો કદાચ લખી પણ નાખ્યો હશે. નવીનમાં પન્નાના લગ્ન આવતી કાલે છે કંકોત્રી આવી છે એટલે નિરાશ તો નહિ જ કરી શકાય એટલે જવું તો પડશે જ. જર્મનીનું એડ્રેસ મારી પાસેથી લઇ ગયા હતાં એટલે પૂ. કાકાને પણ લખી જ હશે. કાકા હમણાં લગભગ એક મહિનો Bayer ની factory માં કામ શીખવા ગયા હતાં. Lodging and Boarding free આપે છે. અત્યારે કાકા હૈડલબર્ગમાં છે. મજા કરે છે.

તારી પરીક્ષા ૬ તારીખે પતે પછી અહીં આવવાનું કરજે અને પછી અહીં થોડા દિવસ રહીને વાડિયા જજે. હમણાં ટ્રેનોમાં ગીર્દી પણ સખત રહે છે એટલે અગાઉથી જગા મળવી પણ મુશ્કેલ છે. તો જરૂર

 

આવવાનું કરજે.

મારી પરીક્ષા ગયા શનિવારે જ પતી ગઇ છે. Practicals સારા ગયા છે અને Theory માં એક પેપર સીવાય બીજા સારાં ગયા છે. પાસ થવાની આશા તો ચોક્કસ છે જ પછી તો જેવા નસીબ.

હાલ એજ પત્રનો જવાબ તુરત આપજે. તારી તૈયારીઓ આપણે કઇ રીતે કરવી તેની રૂપરેખા જરૂર મને જણાવજે. મને તો લાગે છે રૂપરેખા તૈયાર કરવી સહેલ છે પણ M vitamin કઇ રીતે મેળવવું તેની જ વિચારણા કરવી અઘરી છે. - એજ તું મનમાં ધારીશ. મારા પૂ. માતુશ્રીએ યાદી લખાવી છે. આ તરફ આવવાનું જરૂર કરજે. તારે ઘણાંઓને મળવાનું ગઇ વખતે બાકી રહી ગયું હતું તે આ વખતે પતાવી દેશું !

Dear Hemendra,

Received your unexpected letter and was very delighted to read it; the doubt I had that you might have forgotten our shared plan turned out to be wrong. Those thoughts have been keeping me tense lately. Because just 10–15 days ago, I saw two boys from Ceylon of our own age going on bicycles, and on a small box attached behind their bicycles it was written 'Ceylon To London', and on the front bar was our flag along with theirs. Seeing this scene, the thought occurred to me that if a human being has true passion, what is it that they cannot do?

As they say in English, "Where there is a will there is a way". Just the day before yesterday, I saw another European near Churchgate Station around whom many people had gathered; I also took a look, and it seemed he had set out on a World Tour. Equipment and necessary items were neatly arranged on his Motorcycle. He has set out all alone, hasn't he? With only his Motorcycle as a companion. How many people with thoughts and desires like ours must be wandering across this world! And if nature supports us, we too will set out like them soon.

One thing seems certain: if one gets trapped in the merry-go-round of business or a job in America, it becomes very difficult to get out of it. So time is running out fast; we should think and implement it immediately.

I am going to stay here. I have no thought of going anywhere. For you, I personally feel Jamshedpur offers good chances. Such a good chance cannot be found in Mumbai.

These days, another thought keeps spinning in my head—when will I start earning some money? A desire arises to do some work, big or small, with someone's help. But currently among friends, there is only Rasik Kothari and the second is Mahendra Shah; among them, Mahendra goes to an office and is going to practice law, so he wouldn't have any interest in business or trade or anything like that, whereas I have been telling Rasik for a long time to find some line for us, but so far he hasn't succeeded in that.

I have an idea of my own, but anyone who hears it will surely laugh. However, I believe that if luck favors, good money can be earned through my idea. A slightly hardworking person is needed for it, but that can be found.

Most likely on the 15th-16th of this month, I will have to come towards Surendranagar. Though as far as possible I will try to avoid going there, if it doesn't work out, then I will have to come. It is my respected youngest uncle's brother-in-law's wedding, for which I might have to go to Dhrangadhra. They are adamantly insisting that I must come; well, let's see what happens moving forward.

Just before starting your letter, I wrote a letter to respected Kaka. He might have even sent a invitation card. Among updates, Panna's wedding is tomorrow; the invitation card has arrived, so we cannot disappoint them, hence I will have to go. They took Germany's address from me, so they must have written to respected Kaka as well. Kaka had gone to learn work at Bayer's factory for about a month recently. They provide free Lodging and Boarding. Currently, Kaka is in Heidelberg. He is enjoying himself.

After your exams end on the 6th, make plans to come here, and then after staying here for a few days, go to Wadia. Nowadays, there is heavy rush in trains as well, so getting a place in advance is also difficult. So do make sure to come.

My exams ended just last Saturday. Practicals went well, and in Theory, except for one paper, the others went well. Hope of passing is definitely there, rest depends on luck.

That is all for now, reply to the letter immediately. Do let me know the outline of how we should make our preparations. I feel preparing an outline is easy, but considering how to obtain M vitamin (Money) is the difficult part!—you will assume the same in your mind. My respected mother has sent her regards. Do make sure to come towards this side. Many people were left to meet last time, we will finish meeting them this time!
