Dear Brother Batuk, Mumbai,

There is no letter from your end, so do write; we are doing well here and wish for your well-being. You must have received my earlier letter. Yesterday, there was a letter with displeasing news from Doctor Saheb in Ahmedabad stating that he is waiting for your final decision. So upon reading this, if your position in L.I.C. has been finalized, write to inform him immediately, and also inform us. Two days ago, there was a letter with glad news from Shri Nyaysandesh. It mentioned an unexpected meeting with Shri Khimchand Motichand at Shahibaug and how Nayan accompanied him up to his firm at Shivaji Park, during which discussions and inquiries took place regarding Shri Ratibhai Motichand. Nayan may have gone to Laxminagar to meet Munni. Based on recommendations from your side or through them, check whether any other attempt yielded results elsewhere; do inform us of those details and the conversation held with him. Furthermore, write whether you met Shri Durlabhjibhai Zaveriji based on the recommendation I wrote, or if any news arrived from him. Additionally, inform us of the meeting and conversation outcome with Shri M. M. Desai of L.I.C., as well as the attempt and outcome made through Shri Doctor, and take care of your health after inquiring about Doctor Chinta Kishore.

I was supposed to go to Rajkot on 27/7, but due to heavy rainfall across Saurashtra from 23/7 to 30/7, I could not go to Rajkot. However, now I will go on Monday, 3/8. Upon returning from Rajkot in a week's time, if any news comes up... Due to this rain in Saurashtra, several houses have collapsed in many villages, and in Vadiya as well, around 50 houses have collapsed. Up to 100 inches of rain fell until recently, but the rain has eased up over the last two days. Grain crops like Bajra and Jowar have suffered damage. By God's grace, the farm wells are filled up to the brim. Our farm well is also full. Water has even reached above the foundation in the engine room; as water came up the passage, the pump and engine were completely submerged. Once the water recedes, things can be assessed. As soon as the water drops below the engine level, the engine will be cleaned, the pump opened, and with the 3" pump pipe fitted back at the bottom of the well, pumping will resume—write to inform how things turn out. Send a telegram for the rest of the well-being. Do not be lazy in writing letters from Vadodara—do write. (Regards from Babulal)

Dear Brother Batuk,

Got your letter about ten days ago, but there has been no news since then, so reply immediately. Raman is busy running around there; write as soon as anything is finalized.

It must be raining there. It was raining here continuously for many days as well, but today the weather has cleared up somewhat. There was an inquiry from Ahmedabad in between, to which both of us wrote a reply. A minor surgical procedure (incision) was done on my leg, which required a few stitches—after that, I came here. It has healed completely now, and I will leave in a few days. Hope your health is good there, with no stomach pain or other complaints. Take care of your health. Mansukhbhai was inquiring. Everyone in Rajkot is doing fine. Do write a letter.

There is no letter from your end, so please write. Respected Ba and Bapuji are in good health here. Hope your health is good there as well.

Furthermore, Manjubahen came here from Jetpur 15 days ago and will stay here for a few days. Letters with good news arrive regularly from both sisters in Calcutta. Mandabahen is going to take her second Bengali language exam, as mentioned in sister's letter. A few days ago, there was a letter from Shailesh too; he wrote: "Tell Batukmama to send a bicycle for me, and when is Batukmama getting married? I want to attend the wedding."

Everyone in Rajkot and Bhavnagar is doing well. All of us here are doing well too. Vallabh asks to be remembered to you. Do write a letter.

વિ. વિશેષમાં તમારા તરફથી પત્ર નથી તો લખશો અને તરફ કુશળ છીએ. સમાચાર કુશળ ચાહું છું. આ પહેલાં મારો પત્ર મળી ગયો હશે. ગઈકાલે અમદાવાદથી ડૉક્ટર સાહેબનો નાખુશી ખબર નો પત્ર હતો તેમાં તમારા છેલ્લા નિર્ણયની રાહ જુવે છે. તો તે વંચ્યા આગળ તમારું L.I.C. માં નક્કી થઈ ગયું હોય તો એમને તુરત ખબર લખી નાખશો. તેમજ અમે પણ લખી જગાવશો. બે દિવસ પહેલા શ્રી ન્યાયસંદેશના ખુશી ખબર ના પત્ર હતા તેમાં. શાહીબાગમાં શ્રી ખીમચંદ મોતીચંદને ત્યાં અનાયાસે થયેલી મુલાકાત અને નયન એમની firm શિવાજી પાર્ક સુધી મૂકી ગયા દરમ્યાન એમની સાથે થયેલી તપાસી વાતચીતના ઉલ્લેખ હતા શ્રી રતિભાઈ મોતીચંદનો, મેં નયન આનાથી લક્ષ્મીનગર (મુન્ની મળવા ગયા હશે). આપના તરફથી અથવા એમના મારફતે ની ભલામણ મુજ્બ બીજે ક્યાંય પ્રયત્ન ક્રિયામાં એવું જડે? તેની વિગત અને એમની સાથે થયેલી વાતચીત અમોને જ્ગાવશો તદુપરાંત અમેય મેં શ્રી દુર્લભજીભાઈ ઝવેરીજી ને લખેલી ભલામણનાં આધારે તમે એમને મળી આવ્યા કે નહી? અથવા એમના તરફથી કાંઈ ખબર આવ્યા કે નહિ તે લખશો. તદુપરાંત L.I.C. વાળા શ્રી એમ. એમ. દેસાઈ સાથે થયેલી વાતચીત અને મુલાકાત કે પરિણામ તે શ્રી ડૉક્ટર મારફતે થયેલા પ્રયત્ન કે પરિણામ પણ જણાવશો અને તરફથી ડોક્ટર ચિંતા કિશોરની તપાશી લખીયા પછી સંભાળજો. હું તા. ૨૭/૭ નાં રાજકોટ જવાનો હતો પરંતુ અમે બન્ને આપણે સૌરાષ્ટ્રમાં તા. ૨૩/૭ કે તા. ૩0/૭ સુધી અત્રે વહી ગયા છે. સારો વરસાદ હતો તેથી. હું રાજકોટ જઈ શક્યો નહિ. પરંતુ હવે હું તા. ૩/૮ ને સોમવારનાં જઈશ. રાજકોટથી આવતાં અઠવાડિયું થતાં કાંઈ ખબર અંતર જડે- આ વરસાદની

સૌરાષ્ટ્રમાં કેટલાય ગામોમાં કિયા મકાનો પડી ગયા છે અને વાડિયામાં પણ, તેવા ૫૦ મકાનો ધરાશાય થઈ ગયા છે અને સોંદર સુધી વરસાદજી ઇંચ પડ્યા છે છેલ્લા બે દિવસ થયા વરસાદ આઘોપિયા છે. બાજરો જુવાર જેવા અનાજ નાં પાકને નુકશાન થયું છે. હરી કૃપાથી વાં વાણી કૂવા સુધી ભરાય ગયા છે. આપણી વાડીનો કૂવો પણ . એન્જીન રુમમાં ફાઉન્ડેશન ઉપર પણ પાણી છે તે નં. passage માં . ઉપર જ પાણી આવતાં જાણી રહેલા હતાં પંપ અને એન્જીન બધા ડૂબી ગયા છે. હવે જો પાણી ઉતરે તો નક્કી થઈ શકશે. જનતા સુધી એન્જીન ની નીચે પાણી ઉતરી જશે એટલે એન્જીન ચોખ્ખું કરી અને પછી પંપને ખુલ્લા કરીને ફરી સેવાય પાત્ર કૂવાનાં તળિયા ઉપરનાં લીટર ૩ અને ૩" નો પંપ પાઈપ ફિટ ફાઉન્ડેશન પાણી નં પંપીંગ શિવાય શેનું પડશે - તે સારું જ્ગાવશેા તાર અને બાકી કુશળ - વડોદરાથી મૂર્તિપ્રકાશ પત્ર લખવામાં આળસ રાખશો નહીં- લાભ લેશો જી. પ્રિય ભાઈ બટુક,

લગભગ દશેક દિવસ પહેલા તારો પત્ર હતો ત્યારબાદ કોઈ સમાચાર નથી તો તુરત લખજે. રમણ ત્યાં દોડાદોડીમાં રહીશ. કંઈ નક્કી થાય તો તુરત લખજે.

ત્યાં આગળ વરસાદ હશે. અહીં પણ છેલ્લા ઘણા દિવસથી વરસાદ ચાલુ હતો. આજે કંઈક ઉઘાડ છે. અમદાવાદથી વચ્ચે તપાસ હતી, અહીંથી અમે બન્ને એ જવાબ લખેલ છે. મારા બન્ને સાથે ધોડકા થયેલ જે વધુ વંચાણ જેઠો મુકાવવો પડેલ - ત્યારબાદ હું અહીં આવી છું. એ સાથે તદ્દન રુઝ આવી ગઈ છે. થોડા દિવસમાં જઈશ. ત્યાં તારી તબિયત સારી હશે. પેટનો દુખાવો કે કોઈ બીજી ફરીયાદ નહીં હોય. તબિયત સંભાળજે. મનસુખભાઈ તપાસ હતી. રાજકોટ સૌ મજામાં છે. પત્ર લખજે. લી. મંજુના સ્મરણ.

તમશ તરફથી એમનું કાગળ નથી તે લખશો. અહીં પૂ. બા-બાપુજીની તબિયત સારી છે. ત્યાં તમારી તબિયત સારી હશે.

બીજું જેતપુરથી મંજુબહેન એમલા છેલ્લા ૧૫ દિવસથી અહીં આવ્યા છે. એમણું થોડા દિવસ અહીં રોકાશે. કલકત્તાથી બન્ને વ્હેનોનાં ખુશીખબરનાં કાગળ આવે છે. મંદાબહેન બંગાળી-ભાષાની બીજી પરીક્ષા આપવાનાં છે એમ વ્હેનનાં કાગળમાં હતુ. થોડા દિવસ પહેલા શૈલેષનો પણ કાગળ હતો લખતો હતો કે 'બટુકમામાને કહેજો કે મારા માટે એક સાયકલ મોકલે અને બટુકમામાનાં લગ્ન ક્યારે થવાનાં છે, મારે લગ્નમાં આવવું છે'.
