દ્વારા જણાવેલ છે. તે પત્ર
તને મળી ગયો હશે.
તેમાં જણાવેલ પ્રમાણે તારે ન્યુયોર્કથી તા.
૬/૪ નાં સ્ટીમર
"Queen Mary" માં
રવાના થવાનું જણાવ્યું છે. આ સ્ટીમર
Southampton તા. ૧૧/૪ નાં
તને ઉતારશે એટલે કે તા.
૧૧/૪ થી તા.
૩૦/૪ સુધી યુરોપનાં
દેશો જોવા માટે તારા
હાથમાં સમય રહેશે. અને
Naples થી મુંબઈ પહોંચવા માટે તા. ૧/૫ નાં નેપલ્સથી
ઉપડતી સ્ટીમર "Victoria" માં તારે રવાના
થવાનું રહેશે. આ સ્ટીમર તા.
૧૪/૫ નાં તને
મુંબઈ ઉતારશે. સંભવ છે કે
રસ્તામાં રેડ સી માં
કઈ પોર્ટમાં તેમજ એડન કિંવા
માં પેસેન્જરોને ઉતારવા ચઢાવવા માટે અર્ધ દિવસનું
રોકાણ હશે. હવે આ
મુજબનો પ્રોગ્રામ નક્કી કર્યા પહેલાં તારું ત્યાંનું છેવટનું અને યુક્ત કાર્યોમાં
તું ફાજલ થઈ ગયો
હોવો જોઈએ અને તા.
૬/૪ નાં તારે
ન્યુયોર્ક આવી પહોંચવું જોઈએ.
અને તે મુજબનો તારો
પ્રોગ્રામ બરાબર સુસંગત હોય તો તારે
મુંબઈ શ્રી મણિલાલ ફુવાને
સોંપતાં તા. ૨૨/૩
નાં પત્રમાં જણાવ્યા મુજબ પેસેજ બુક
કરાવી નાખવા જણાવી દેવું જોઈએ. આ પત્ર તને
તા. ૩/૪ નાં
અથવા તે પહેલાં મળી
જશે. માનું છું કે તે
મળતા પહેલાં તો
તારો
final programme નક્કી કરી મુંબઈ શ્રી
મણિલાલ ફુવાને આપી દીધો હશે.

બુક કરાવવા માટે મેસર્સ Jeena & Co. ને ડોલર
મેળવવા માટે રીઝર્વ બેંકને
તારી પથરી મોકલવા માટે.
રીઝર્વ બેંકે ત્યારે રવાના થયો, અમેરિકા તું
ક્યારે (મુંબઈથી) ક્યારે ગયો, ત્યાં આગળ
ક્યા અભ્યાસ માટે, તું ગયો છો
વિગેરે માહિતી furnish કરવાની હોવાનું તે અંગે લખી
ને મણિલાલ આપ્યું છે. તારા સૂચન
મુજબના પ્રોગ્રામની અંદર તારું કોઈ
પણ કાર્ય બાકી રહે તેમ
હોય તો બે પખવાડિયાં
મોડું કરી નાખવું. મતલબ
કે તારી બધી oral, exam, Submission of thesis and
holding of your M.S. degree વિગેરે
યુક્ત કાર્ય પૂરું થઈ જવું જોઈએ.
તારા છેલ્લા પત્ર ઉપરથી એમ
લાગે છે કે આ
સમય દરમ્યાન કદાચ તારા આ
બધા કાર્યો પૂરા નહીં થઈ
શકે. તારા હવે પછીના
પત્ર આવ્યાથી ખબર પડશે. શ્રી
મણિલાલ ફુવાનું સરનામું તારી પાસે ન
હોય તો આ પ્રમાણે.

કરીને યુરોપનાં દેશોમાં મુસાફરીમાં તબીયતની બરાબર સંભાળ રાખવી અને સાવધાન રહેવું.
તારા ત્યાંના ખર્ચ અને યુરોપની
મુસાફરીનાં ખર્ચ માટે તેં
અગાઉ લખ્યું હતું તે મુજબ
તારી શ્રીમંત પ્રવાસીઓ ત્યાંથી ડોલર મેળવી લીધા
હશે. તેનાં પૈસા મુંબઈ મણિલાલ
આપવા માટેનો તારો પત્ર આવશેથી
મણિલાલ આપશે. એ જ બાકી

Dear Son Hemant,
Greetings. Received your last letter. According to the instructions you wrote in your letter prior to that, Shri Manilal Fuwa (uncle) made arrangements to book your passage through M/s Jeena & Co. and informed you via a letter dated 22/3. You must have received that letter. As stated in that letter, you are to depart from New York on 6/4 aboard the steamer "Queen Mary". This steamer will disembark you at Southampton on 11/4, which means you will have time on hand from 11/4 to 30/4 to visit European countries. And to reach Mumbai from Naples, you will have to depart on 1/5 aboard the steamer "Victoria" leaving from Naples. This steamer will disembark you in Mumbai on 14/5. It is possible that en route in the Red Sea, there will be a half-day stopover at some port, as well as in Aden or... to disembark and embark passengers.
Now, before finalizing this program, your final and associated work there must be completed, you should be free, and you must reach New York on 6/4. And if your program according to that is completely consistent, you should inform Shri Manilal Fuwa in Mumbai upon delivery to book the passage as mentioned in the letter dated 22/3. You will receive this letter on or before 3/4. I believe that before receiving this,
you will have finalized your final program and given it to Shri Manilal Fuwa in Mumbai. Manibhai gave Rs. 5,672/- (American) yesterday to Shri Manilal Fuwa for your passage from New York, Southampton, and Naples to Mumbai. That is, for booking passage from Mumbai, M/s Jeena & Co. needs to send your document to the Reserve Bank to obtain dollars. Manilal wrote regarding the Reserve Bank requiring information to be furnished such as when you departed, when you left (from Mumbai) for America, for which studies you went there, etc. If any of your work remains unfinished within your suggested program, delay it by two fortnights. Meaning, all your oral exams, submission of thesis, holding of your M.S. degree, and other related work must be completed. Looking at your last letter, it feels like perhaps all these works of yours might not be completed during this time. It will be known upon receiving your next letter. If you do not have Shri Manilal Fuwa's address, it is as follows. The home address is: Kantilal Z. Gandhi, F. 21, Second Floor, Tarabaug Estate, opp. Charni Road Station, Bombay 4. But if you need to keep sending telegrams from there, send them to Rajkot at the "VIKAS" Rajkot address. Your marriage... Aunt, Uncle, all of us... with you... and departing from Porbandar on the 25/3 steamer... and making home known where... where Dharam Labhchand Fuwaji... has the most fear/trouble.
We, Vadia, Lalpur, Anand, all are in good spirits. Wishing for your well-being. Take proper care of your health and stay cautious during travel, especially when traveling in European countries. As you wrote earlier regarding your expenses there and travel expenses in Europe, your wealthy fellow travelers must have obtained dollars from there. Upon receiving your letter to pay that money to Manilal in Mumbai, Manilal will pay it. Nothing else, all is well.
