આજ દોઢ મહીનો થયો
પત્ર નથી તે દરમ્યાન
રાજકોટથી ઓત અને અનેક
આ સમયે સાચો પત્ર
લખાય છે. છેલ્લા કેટલાક
દિવસથી દરરોજ ટપાલનાં સમયે તારો પત્ર
મળવાની ઘરમાં સૌ પ્રતિક્ષા કરી
રહ્યા છે. દિવસો જેમ
જેમ જાય છે તેમ
તેમ સૌની આતુરતા વ્યાકુળ
બને છે અને આજ
દિવસ સુધી પત્ર કેમ
નહીં લખ્યો, હોય, તે બાબતમાં
મનમાં અનેક તરંગો ઉઠે
છે. ઈલી-અરપાના ક્યાં
આગળ પિતાની સાથે રહેતા હશે
તે અરસામાં ક્યારેક પત્ર મારો મળતો
ત્યારે આટલી બધી ચિંતા
અને વ્યથા થતી નહોતી. કારણ
કે ત્યાં આગળ તારા મિત્રો
સાથે રહેતા હોવાથી સૌને ધરપત હતી
જ્યારે અહિયાં ડેટ્રોઈટમાં તું ઓતો હોય
તેમ અમે સૌને બહુ
ચિંતા રહે છે. વળી
એનો પણ સાંભળ્યું છે.
એટલે આવા દિવસોમાં તો
તારો પત્ર જરૂર મળવો
જોઈએ. તારી તબીયત ખૂબ
તંદુરસ્ત હોય એમ પ્રભુ
પાસે પ્રાર્થિએ છીએ. વળી તારું
વેકેશન આ મહીનાની આખરમાં
તો પુરૂ થવાનું કે
રૂડું? અને તે પુરૂ
થતાં તું પાછો ઈલી-અરપાના જવાંનો તે તારો પત્ર
આવેથી ખબર પડે. જો
તારે આપલીંગ સાયર સુધીમ ત્યાં
રહેવાનું હશે તો તો
કદાચ આ પત્ર પહોંચ્યા
પહેલાં તું ત્યાંથી નીકળી
ગયો હોઈશ. તારા પત્રો રીડાયરેક્ટ
કરી આપવાનાં ખબર સેન્ડ સેન્ડને
આપી ગયેલ હોઈશ. અને
લખેલ રાજકોટ, ગોંડલ... જૂનાગઢ સૌ કુશળ છે.
બધાની તબીયત સારી છે. મિ.સૌ. ચંદા બરોબર
નથી, બરોબર... રાખડીઓ લખેલ અને પરિવાર...

તને સમયસર મળી ગઈ હશે.
વરસાદ આછો થઈ ગયો
છે. રાજકોટ મિ. ભા. દિનેશને
સાતમ-આઠમ કે એક
અઠવાડીયાનું વેકેશન હોવાનું મને આપેલ છે.
મિ. ભા. નાનું બેંગ્લોર
પધાર્યા છે. એમની ટ્રેઈનીંગ
ચાલુ થઈ ગયેલ છે.
એમના ટ્રેઈનીંગ સિતારા બેંગ્લોરથી ૧૦ માઈલ દૂર
ચાલતા હોવાનું. કંપનીની લક્ઝરી દરરોજ એમને તેડવા આવે
છે. એમણે પણ તને
કદાચ પત્ર લખ્યો હશે
અને અહિયાં બંગાળ હશે. એમનો સર્વિસ
પિરિયડ પૂરો થયા પછી
તા. ના નાઝુમહારાજ થઈને
પુનાનાં તહેવારો પહેલાં વિઝીટ પહોંચી જશે અને કદાચ
દિવાળી બાદ હિન્દ પાછો
દેશમાં આવશે. રાજકોટમાં ઓફિસનું કામ પણ સારૂં
ચાલે છે. હાલ અમે
ગામી કુશળ છીએ પણ
સમયમાં બીજા કુલ ઓફિસ
ન રાખેલ, અને નિયમીત લખતા
રહેવું. પૂજ્ય અમારા પચ્ચે શાંતિ રહે. તારૂં અને...

રજા ઉપર અઠવાડીયુ અહી
રહેવા આવ્યો છું. મારી તબીયત
સારી છે તમારી તબીયત
સારી હશે. બા, બાપુજીની
તબીયત સારી છે. મારો
અભ્યાસ બરોબર ચાલે છે. તમારૂ
વેકેશન પુરૂ થઈ ગયું
હશે. કાગળનો જવાબ તુરતજ લખશો.

તમારા તરફથી ઘણા સમયથી પત્ર
નથી તો તુરત લખશો.
જોકે ત્યાંથી લખ્યો હશે તો અહીં
એકાદ બે દિવસમાં મળવો
જોઈએ. આ પહેલાંનો પત્ર
તથા રાખડી બંને મળી ગઈ
હશે. એક રાખડી વધારે
કોઈને આપવા માટે મોકલી
હતી. કલકત્તાથી બંને વ્હેનોએ મોકલેલ
રાખડી પણ મળી ગઈ
હશે. ગોંડલ મંજુબેન અહંદમાં છે. એકાદ મહિનામાં
અહીં કદાચ આવશે. રણજીતભાઈ
રાંચીથી કલકત્તા તરફ ફરવામાં ગયેલા
છે. ૧/૧-૨
મહિનામાં દેશમાં પાછા આવશે.
બેંગલોરથી
નાનુભાઈનો કાગળ અહીં હજી
નથી આવ્યો. દિનેશ કાલે અહીં આવ્યો
છે. એકાદ અઠવાડીયુ રોકાશે.
અહીં આ વખતે સાતમ-આઠમ પર એટલે
કે આવતી કાલથી મેળો-અપૂંબ બઝાર વિ. ભરાવવાનું
છે. નાટકનો પ્રોગ્રામ પણ આપણી વાડીનાં
ગોડાઉનમાં ગોઠવ્યાો છે. ત્યાં તો
તમને આપણા શ્રાવણ મહિનાનાં
તહેવારો ક્યારે આવીને વહ્યા જશે એ ખબર
નહિ હોય. અહીંથી અમે
લખીએ એટલે યાદ આવતા
હશે, અહીં સૌ અહંદમાં
છે. ત્યાં તમારું કામકાજ બરોબર ચાલતું હશે. નવીન સમાચારો

Greetings. It has been a month and a half since we received a letter from you; meanwhile, from Rajkot and elsewhere, many letters arrive, and at this time, a true letter is being written. For the last few days, everyone at home has been eagerly waiting for your letter at mail delivery time every day. As the days pass, everyone’s anxiety grows restless, and many thoughts arise in the mind as to why no letter has been written until today. When you used to stay with your father in Urbana/E-Urbana, whenever my letter arrived during that period, there wasn't so much worry and distress. Because over there, staying with your friends gave everyone assurance; whereas here, with you being alone in Detroit, all of us worry a lot. Moreover, we have also heard about it. Therefore, during such days, your letter must definitely be received. We pray to God that your health is very sound and healthy. Further, is your vacation coming to an end by the end of this month or what? Once it ends, whether you will go back to Urbana will be known when your letter arrives. If you have to stay there until next year, perhaps before this letter reaches, you might have left from there. You must have given instructions to the post to redirect your letters. Everyone written in Rajkot, Gondal... Junagadh is doing well. Everyone's health is good. Respected Chanda is not well, proper... rakhi bands written and family...
The rakhi bands must have reached you on time. The rain has lessened. In Rajkot, Dear Brother Dinesh mentioned having a week's vacation for Satam-Atham (festival). Dear Brother Nanu has arrived in Bangalore. His training has commenced. Their training site is located 10 miles away from Bangalore. The company's luxury vehicle comes daily to pick him up. He too might have written a letter to you, and Bengal must be there. After his service period ends, via Naju Maharaj, he will visit before the Pune festivals and perhaps return home to India after Diwali. Office work in Rajkot is also going well. There has been no letter from your end for a long time, so please write immediately. However, if written from there, it should arrive here in a day or two. The previous letter and the rakhi band must both have reached you. One extra rakhi was sent to be given to someone else. The rakhi bands sent by both sisters from Kolkata must also have been received. In Gondal, Manjubahen is doing well. She might come here in about a month. Ranjitbhai has gone traveling toward Kolkata from Ranchi. He will return home in 1–1.5 months.
Nanubhai's letter from Bangalore has not arrived here yet. Dinesh arrived here yesterday; he will stay for about a week. This time here for Satam-Atham — that is, starting tomorrow — a fair, bazaar, etc., will be set up. A play program has also been arranged in our garden warehouse. Over there, you probably won't even realize when our month of Shravan festivals come and go. When we write from here, you must be reminded of them. Everyone here is fine.
