ચિ. ભા. બટુક, પિ. તમારા, તા. ૪-૧૧ નો પત્ર આને મળ્યો, વાંચી આનંદ અને સંતોષ થયા છે. અમારી તબીયત એવે સારી છે. ચિંતા કરશો નહિ. ત્યાં આગળ બરફ પડવો શરુ થઈ ગયો છે. તો ખૂબ સંભાળી ને રહેશો જરા પણ ઠંડી લાગી ન જાય. તેની તકેદારી રાખશો. આપણી ગંધારમાં નાના મોટા સૌની શરદ પ્રકૃતિ છે. એટલે ઠંડો વણાટ તે બદલ ખૂબ સંભાળવાનું છે. તમારો પત્ર નિયમીત મળવાની ઇન્તેજારી એટલા માટે રહે છે કે ત્યારનું ત્યાના હવામાનમાં રહેવા માટેનું આ પહેલું વર્ષ છે. વિન્ટર સીઝન વિત્યા પછી એટલી ચિંતા નહીં રહે. ત્યાના કુટુંબો પાંચ તરફને નિયંત્રણ મળે છે તેનાથી સંતોષ થાય છે. તથા સામે જીવન સદવાચન, માયાપૂજાના ભક્તના અને ઉચ્ચ આદર્શ ભાવના જે સારા ગુણો જોવામાં આપને ગુણ કરવા. એ શીખીને આપણા જીવનમાં શરુ થાય છે. તેની અસર મન ઉપર થયા ન રહે તે બદલ આનંદ રાખવો અસમાશ યજમાન Mr. Don અને Jean તે લોકોને સુંદર આદરભાવ સાથે સત્કાર્યા તે બદલ ખૂબ ખૂબ મારા વતી એમનો આભાર માનશો. એમના loving kids ને અમારા વતી પ્યાર આપશો. ડૉ. રમણીકલાલ કે ત્યારો સંદેશો આને લખી નાખ્યો છે, ચિ. એસ. મંજુલાબેનની જર્મની ની લોન પાસ થઈ ગઈ છે. પાસ પાર્ટ વિગેરેની તકેદારી કરી રહે છે. એમને કેલીફોર્નીયાની યુની. માં એડમીશન મળી ગયું છે. મેં એમને તમારી ખુબીયા અરજ કર્યા કર્યું છે. તમારી સાથે, ત્યાં એમને એડમીશન મળી જતો ઘણું સારું. તમને રૂ।. અને એલરનાં ડોલર મોકલાવવા આપેલા તે મોટાભાઈએ. રાજકોટે અમેરીકન એક્સપ્રેસ વાળાને ડ્રાફ્ટ સાથે સુચના મોકલાવી આપી છે. તો તે તમને આ મહીનામાં ન મળી રહેશે. બાકીના પણ તમને સમયસર મળેલાવવા માટે મોટા ભાઈ તકેદારી રાખશે. બીજું સૌરાષ્ટ્ર સરકાર વિદ્યાર્થીઓને આપેલી લોન ને Scholarship માં ફેરવવાની વિચારણા કરે છે. એ પણ થોડા વખત પહેલા ચિ. એસ. મંજુલાબહેન અને આવેલા ત્યારે વાત ક્રિયા હતા. આજે તમારા પત્ર મોટા ભાઈ ને મોકલાવી આપું છું. આ બાબતમાં વિશેષ તપાસ કરીને તમને ખબર આપશે. કનૈયા આ. ગુપ્તા સાહેબને મોકલવા માટે રૂ. ૫૦૦/- ના ડ્રાફ્ટ ના ઘણા દિવસ થયા લખાઈ રાખેલા છે. પરંતુ flood ના કારણે પોસ્ટ ઓફીસ અંસાર લીમીટેડ નઈ. ગુપ્તા સાહેબનો પત્ર પણ આજ આવી ગયો છે P.O. પડે ત્યારે મોકલાવી આપશો. ચિ. મનુભાઈ બે દિવસ થયા રાજકોટ હિવાળુંની હોસ્પીટલ પ્રસંગે ગયેલા છે. અને રાજકોટ, ગોંડલ ત્યાના સૌ આનંદમાં છે. અત્રે લા. બાપુજી ના શૂભાશિષ

બટુકભાઈ તમારો પત્ર આજે મળ્યો વાંચી ખુબ આનંદ થયો. આ પહેલાની આપણી કાગળો મળી ગયા હશે. તમને દિવાળીનું કાર્ડ ગઈકાલે અહીંથી રવાના કર્યું છે. જો કે બેસતા વર્ષને દિવસે તો નહિ જ મળે. આજે અહીંથી નૂતન વર્ષના અભિનંદન સૌના તરફથી પાઠવું છું. તમારે ત્યાં કોલેજમાં આપણી દિવાળીની રજા તો પડતી નહિ હોય. અહીંયા તો ખાસ દિવાળીની ધમાલ નથી. કલકત્તાથી બન્ને બેનોનાં કાગળો અવારનવાર આવે છે. અહીંયાથી મેં એ લોકોને તમને કાગળો લખવા વિશે ઘણીવાર લખ્યું છે. હવે તો તમને કાગળો લખ્યો જ હશે એમ ધારું છું. તમારો અભ્યાસ બરાબર ચાલતો હશે. બરફ પડવો શરુ થઈ ગયો એટલે ઠંડી પણ ખુબ જ રહેતી હશે. અહીયા પણ ઠંડીની શરૂઆત થઈ ગઈ છે. સૌની તબિયત સારી છે. ત્યાં તમારી તબિયત પણ સારી હશે. રસોઈનાં કામકાજમાં હવે તો expert થઈ ગયા હશો. અહીં આવશો ત્યારે તમારી પાસેથી શીખવું પડશે. જો કે મિષ્ટાન બનાવતા તો તમને બરાબર નહિ જ આવડતું હોય. પાકશાસ્ત્રનું પુસ્તક ત્યાં કોઈ પાસે છે કે નહિ? એમાં દરેક વસ્તુ વિશે સારી માહિતી હોય છે. તમારા મિત્ર સાથે અહીંથી કંઈ મંગાવવું હોય તો લખજો. ત્યાં ભોલુભાઈથી કાગળો આવ્યો એ જાણ્યું. પત્ર ફુરસદે લખતા રહેજો. — જ્યોતિ —

પ્રિય ભા. નરેન્દ્ર:- આ પત્ર મળશે ત્યાં સુધીમાં અમેરીકન એક્સપ્રેસ પાસું મોકલાવેલ રૂ. ૧૦૦૦/- આસપાસનો ડ્રાફ્ટ મળી ગયો હશે. શ્રી ગુપ્તાજી પણ રૂ. ૫૦૦/- ના ડ્રાફ્ટ મોકલાવી આપ્યા છે. સરકારની લોનવા ફોર્મ મોકલ્યા પખવાડીયું વીતી જશે.
તારાં આ મિત્ર નાટો વગેરેની આ કોઈની બંદર સબસીડી હીસ્ટ્રીની કોઈક આપી ગયેલ છે. સોવિયેત સ્પીરીટ ની વિચાર કરાવી છે - અતિ - એની વાત મેં પણ અહિં સાંભળેલી - પરંતુ હવે આખી પાક્કી મેળવી જણાવીશ. રશિયાનું રસાયણશાસ્ત્ર ત્યાં પંડિતજીની રશિયા ટૂરમાં ગયેલું આલ્બમ તથા રશિયન પિક્ચરોની હિંદમાં ભરેલાં ચિત્રોનું આલ્બમ અને ઈન્ડીયન પિક્ચરોનું આલ્બમ તે રમેશભાઈ સાથે મોકલાવેલું.
અહિં સૌ કુશળ છે. તારાં ભાભી દિ. એક મુંબઈ છે. એ બે અવાડીયામાં આવશે. ચિ. બાપુની તબિયત ઠીક છે. હીવાં સ્કૂલે રોજ ઠંડીની અસર રહે છે. પરંતુ અહીંથી જાપાન વીઝા કર્યા સિવાય ત્યાં અભ્યાસમાં મંડી રહેવું.
ટ્રેક્ટરો ગયા વર્ષે બન્નેય આવ્યા. એના ઓર્ડર છે - બંનેય જાતનાં ઓર્ડર મળશે. તેવું કામકાજ અત્રે ઠીક ચાલ્યા કરે છે.

Greetings. Your letter dated 4-11 was received today; reading it brought great joy and satisfaction. Our health is good. Do not worry. It has started snowing over there, so stay very careful and ensure you don't catch a cold. Take proper precautions.
In our family, everyone young and old has a cold-sensitive constitution, so we must be very careful with cold weather. We eagerly look forward to receiving your regular letters because this is your first year experiencing that climate over there. Once the winter season passes, there won't be as much concern.
It brings satisfaction to know that you receive invitations from local families over there. I have written your message to Dr. Ramniklal. Dear Sister Manjulaben's loan for Germany has been approved; she is taking care of passport and other arrangements. She has secured admission at the University of California. I keep urging her regarding your setup; it would be wonderful if she gets admission there with you.
Regarding the money for you—Big Brother sent the instructions along with the bank draft for the dollar amount to American Express from Rajkot. So you should receive it within this month. Big Brother will ensure that the remaining amounts are also delivered to you on time.
Additionally, the Saurashtra Government is considering converting student loans into scholarships. Dear Sister Manjulaben mentioned this when she visited a short while ago. Today I am forwarding your letter to Big Brother; he will inquire further into this matter and inform you.
A bank draft for Rs. 500/- to be sent to Mr. Kanaiya A. Gupta has been written out for many days, but due to floods, the post office services were limited. Mr. Gupta's letter also arrived today; it will be sent as soon as the P.O. opens. Dear Manubhai went to Rajkot two days ago for a hospital event regarding winter care. Everyone in Rajkot and Gondal is doing well and in good spirits.

Batukbhai, received your letter today, delighted to read it. You must have received my previous letters. Sent you a Diwali card from here yesterday, though it won't reach you on New Year's Day itself. Today I send New Year greetings on behalf of everyone here. You probably don't have Diwali holidays at your college over there. Here, there isn't much Diwali bustle specifically.
Letters arrive from both sisters in Calcutta from time to time. I have written to them multiple times to write to you; I assume they must have written to you by now. Your studies must be going well. Since snowfall has begun, it must be very cold over there; winter has started here as well. Everyone's health is fine; hope your health is also good.
By now, you must have become an expert in cooking. When you return here, we will have to learn from you! Though you probably don't know how to prepare sweets properly. Does anyone over there have a cookbook? It contains good information about everything. If you want to request anything from here through your friend, do write. By the time you receive this letter, you should have received the draft for around Rs. 1000/- sent through American Express. The draft for Rs. 500/- to Shri Guptaji has also been sent. It will take a fortnight after sending the government loan forms.
Someone came by and provided some input regarding your friend's NATO subsidy history and Soviet spirit ideas—I had heard about it here as well, but now I will gather complete, solid information and inform you.
Regarding Russian chemistry: Panditji's album from his Russia tour, an album of pictures taken in India from Russian films, and an album of Indian films were sent with Rameshbhai.
Everyone here is well. Your sister-in-law is in Mumbai; she will return in two weeks. Dear Bapu's health is okay. Winter cold affects school daily, but without obtaining a Japanese visa from here, focus on your studies over there.
Both types of tractors arrived last year and there are orders for them—orders will be received for both types. Business here is progressing fairly well.
