યાદ તો નહિ હોય
પરંતુ આ પત્ર મળતા
યાદ આવશે. બરાબર
આવતા
સોમવારે બહેનનો દિવસ જ આ
કાગળ તથા રાખડી મળશે.
ત્યાંની
કોઈ બહેન પાસે આ
સાથે મોકલાવેલ રાખડી બંધાવજો.
તમારા
ઘણા વખતથી પત્ર
નથી
તો લખશો. હું એક અઠવાડિયાથી
રાજકોટથી અહીં આવી ગઈ
છું.
હું
રાજકોટ હતી ત્યારે ત્યાં
ખુબ વરસાદ હતો અને તેથી
ઘણો ઠંડાકો
ખુબ
નુકસાન પણ થયું છે.
અહીંયા વરસાદ ઓછો છે. હજી
ક્યારેક
થોડો
થોડો આવ્યા કરે છે. હમણાં
તો સૌરાષ્ટ્રમાં એક પછી એક
નવી નવી
ધમાલ
થયા કરે છે. ધરતીકંપ
થયા બાદ આખા સૌરાષ્ટ્રમાં
તથા કચ્છમાં
પણ
ઘણો વરસાદ થયો. ત્યારબાદ હમણાં
મહાદ્વિભાષી રાજ્યની જાહેરાતથી
ઘણો
ખરો ઠંડાકો લોકોનો થયો તેમાં ખાસ
કરીને અમદાવાદમાં લોકોને વધુ
થયું.
આજે
ત્રણેય બહેનોનાં ખુશીખબરનાં પત્રો છે. મંજુબેન કદાચ
મહિના પછી
અહીં
આવશે. અમે રાજકોટ હતા
ત્યારે તેઓ બંને એક
દિવસ ત્યાં આવી ગયા હતા.
શ્રી
હસમુખભાઈ ગવર્મેન્ટ તરફથી રાંચી ટ્રેઈનીંગ માટે ગયા છે.
ત્યાં બે મહિના રોકાશે.
ત્યાંથી
કદાચ
કલકત્તા જશે. નાનુભાઈ ગયા
મંગળવારે મુંબઈ થઈને બેંગલોર ગયા
છે. ત્યાં તેમનું
કામકાજ
સારું ચાલતું હશે. વેકેશન સુધી
જ ત્યાં રોકાવાના હશે. અહીં સૌની
તબિયત
સારી
છે. ત્યાં તમારી તબિયત સારી હશે. વજન
વધ્યું કે નહિ? રાજકોટ
સર્વે સૌ મજામાં છે.
ત્યાં
આગળ તમારા બંને ડૉશીમાને અમારા
વતી વંદન પાઠવશો. એ
લોકો આપણા કરતા -
વિશેષ
લાગણીવાળા હોય છે એ
તમારા પત્ર પરથી જાણ્યું.
પરદેશી પ્રત્યે
આટલી
કાળજી આપણા લોકો ન
રાખી શકે. તમારો જન્મદિવસ
અહીં
તો નહોતા ઉજવતા પરંતુ ત્યાં એ દિવસનું મહત્વ
ઠીક લાગે
છે.
હમણાં થોડા દિવસ પહેલા
લીંબડીનાં એક ગરાસિયા ભાઈ
ત્યાં
ઈલીનોઈસ
યુનિ.માં ગયા છે
એવા ખબર છાપામાં હતા.
ત્યાંના
નવીન
સમાચાર જણાવતા રહેશો. મિલાપ દર મહિને મળતું
હશે
એટલે અહીંના સમાચાર તો વાચતા હશો.
અલ્કાબહેન
તથા પુષ્પા હમણાં કલકત્તાથી અહીં આવી છે
થોડા દિવસ
બાદ
અલ્કાબહેન સાથે પાછી જશે.
અહીંથી સૌએ તમને યાદ
કર્યા છે.

Dear Brother Bakulbhai,
Shantam Jeeva Sharadam [May you live peacefully for a hundred autumns].
The 21st is the day of Raksha-Bandhan; you may not have remembered it, but reading this letter will remind you. Exactly next Monday, on Sister's Day, you will receive this letter and the rakhi. Please have the enclosed rakhi tied by some sister over there.
There has been no letter from you for a long time, so do write. I arrived here from Rajkot a week ago. When I was in Rajkot, there was heavy rain, which brought quite a chill, and considerable damage was also caused. The rainfall here is less, though it still trickles in occasionally.
Lately, one new disturbance after another keeps occurring in Saurashtra. Following the earthquake, there was heavy rainfall across all of Saurashtra and Kutch. Subsequently, the recent announcement of the bigger bilingual state (Maha-Dvibhashi Rajya) caused a lot of agitation among the people, especially in Ahmedabad, where people were affected even more.
Today, letters with good news arrived from all three sisters. Manjuben will perhaps come here after a month. When we were in Rajkot, both of them came over for a day. Shri Hasmukhbhai has gone to Ranchi on behalf of the government for training; he will stay there for two months and might proceed to Calcutta from there.
Nanubhai went to Bangalore via Mumbai last Tuesday; his work over there must be going well. He will probably stay there only until the vacation.
Everyone's health here is good. Hope your health is good over there—did your weight increase or not? Everyone in Rajkot is doing well.
Please convey our respectful greetings to both of your landladies (Doshima) over there on our behalf. From your letters, we learned that...
...they are even more affectionate than our own people. Our people over here could not take such meticulous care of a foreigner.
We used to not celebrate your birthday here, but over there, the significance of that day seems quite nice. A few days ago, there was news in the papers that a Garasiya gentleman from Limbdi went to Illinois University over there. Keep sharing new updates from that side. Since you must be receiving Milap every month, you are probably reading the news from back home.
Alkabahen and Pushpa recently arrived here from Calcutta; after a few days, Pushpa will return with Alkabahen. Everyone here sends their regards to you. Respected Ba has dictated her blessings for you. Warm regards to everyone there. Do write letters every now and then.
Respected Sister wrote you a letter from Calcutta—did you receive it or not? Ajna-bahen mentioned this in her letter. Write to her as well if you find the time over there.
