Hi Friends,

Even as I launch this today ( my 80th Birthday ), I realize that there is yet so much to say and do. There is just no time to look back, no time to wonder,"Will anyone read these pages?"

With regards,

Dear Brother Hemendra,

Received your letter—couldn't quite make sense of it! Was it written in sarcasm? Well, whatever it may be! I know my straightforward nature all too well. Truly, I ought to thank you; a friend like you has put up with my temperament (short-tempered or impulsive) and sustained our friendship. Anyway, I won't write anything that causes you pain by bringing up those matters. You will continue to keep me obliged, won't you? If possible, I shall return the favor. My heart longs to write a great deal, but do you know? Once having suffered a bitter experience, no matter how hard I try, I am simply unable to open my heart and write or speak freely to anyone.

Well! Hope your health is good? My health is fine. Must be exercising? Writing to inform you that the reply to the scholarship form submitted on time back on 10th October...

...was received only on 7th November! That is simply owing to our "qualities." You received a scholarship on account of your brilliance; given our shortcoming in that regard, it is only natural for us to remain humble. It isn't a matter of particular grief. Do tell Virendra to write a letter without fail. My friend's name is Arvind Harishankar Dave, so if you wish to write to him, do write—truly, he is very, very generous at heart. Now another friend is also being made—a wealthy youth has newly become a friend as well.
