Dear Batuk,
We arrived in Ahmedabad on Tuesday morning. Respected Doctor Sahib and Akhand Saubhagyavati [A.S.] Navalben came to the station to receive us. We stayed there for four days, during which Doctor Sahib thoroughly examined your sister-in-law's health and also took X-ray photographs. He has prescribed the complete treatment. The intestines have grown extremely weak, so he strongly advised complete rest. She suffers from continuous and severe weakness. Leaving there yesterday evening, we reached here [Anand] last night. A.S. Navalben, Bharati, and Sarlaben must have departed for Rajkot last night. Your letter was received there yesterday.
Staying together with everyone for four days in Ahmedabad allowed us to get to know one another very well. They are all immensely loving people. Bharati possesses great humility. Both children felt very fond of her and enjoyed her company. Despite her high level of education and being the daughter of wealthy parents, she didn't display the slightest pretension or superficial airs typical of Bombay folk. Her disposition is exceedingly gentle. She showed me the kind of deferential respect usually reserved for elders—even though I told her, "Brother, do not be like that, I am meeting you just like a friend, so you should feel completely at ease with us." In short, you have found a wonderful partner for life—both of us send our heartfelt congratulations to you on choosing her. We arrived here today; how long we will stay is not yet decided.
We are thinking of going to Mount Abu for a break, for which permission from respected Father (Pujya Bapuji) has also been received. Young Rajni wrote to Vinaykant and Madhuben c/o Satulahi to come to Abu, and a confirmation has been received from their end. However, finding accommodation up in Abu is difficult, and Dr. Kansara also mentioned that the water there is very heavy; unless one walks four to five miles daily over there, going is quite pointless. Under these circumstances, whether Vimu can manage that much walking remains a question. On the other hand, the doctor has also recommended Tithal near Valsad. So, whichever way the program gets finalized, I shall inform you.
Dr. Ramnikbhai left for the native place (Desh) four days ago, but Bhanuben is still here. Doctor Sahib will arrive in Mumbai around the 17th of May to go abroad, departing by train on the 19th. Bhanuben remembers you fondly. I will inform you of my final itinerary on Tuesday. By God's grace, we are doing well here.
